Dr. Georgie Powell

About

Dr Georgie Powell is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology at Cardiff University. Her research examines how emerging technologies can enhance health, wellbeing, and independence for disabled people, with a focus on groups often overlooked in innovation, including autistic people, individuals with a learning disability, older adults, and those with chronic health conditions. She works closely with practitioners and people with lived experience to co-design accessible and meaningful solutions. Her projects span smart home technologies for independent living, digital exclusion, multi-sensory environments, and equitable access to higher education industry placements. Beyond academia, Georgie is Vice Chair of Innovate Trust, a leading supported-living charity for people with a learning disability.
